Government-Funded Home Modifications
Understand your options under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme and Home Care Packages, and how Elite Trade Management can help you access the support you deserve.
Funding That Helps You Stay Home Safely
The Australian Government provides funding to help older Australians make their homes safer and more accessible. There are two main programs that can fund home modifications, and we are here to help you navigate both.
Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
The CHSP is an Australian Government initiative designed to help older people access entry-level support services so they can continue living independently at home. It is available to Australians aged 65 and over, or 50 and over for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Under the CHSP, you can access funding for essential home modifications including grab rails, handrails, minor ramp installations, and basic bathroom safety features. The program focuses on smaller-scale modifications that address immediate safety concerns.
CHSP is ideal for those who need basic safety modifications and entry-level support to maintain their independence at home.
Home Care Packages (Levels 1-4)
Home Care Packages provide a more comprehensive, coordinated level of care for seniors with greater needs. There are four levels, each providing increasing funding based on the complexity of your care requirements.
- Level 1: Basic care needs
- Level 2: Low-level care needs
- Level 3: Intermediate care needs
- Level 4: High-level care needs
Home Care Packages can fund larger modifications such as full bathroom renovations, doorway widening, and smart home monitoring systems.
How to Apply
The process is straightforward, and we can guide you through every step if you need support.
01
Contact My Aged Care
Call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. This is the Australian Government's starting point for accessing aged care services. They will ask about your situation and needs to determine the right type of support.
02
Get Assessed
An assessor will visit your home to understand your needs and living situation. For CHSP, this is a Regional Assessment Service (RAS). For Home Care Packages, this is an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) assessment.
03
Get Approved
Once approved, you will receive a letter outlining the support you are eligible for. For Home Care Packages, you will be assigned a package level (1-4) and connected with a provider.
04
We Do the Work
Once your funding is confirmed, we handle everything else. We assess your home, recommend modifications, coordinate with your provider, complete the installation, and ensure everything meets Australian Standards.
You can contact My Aged Care directly on 1800 200 422 or visit the My Aged Care website.
